Karen is responsible for the corporate functions of NHS HMR CCG and providing assistance to ensure the CCG fulfils its statutory duties. The areas Karen directly manages are – patient services (Complaints, PALS and FOIs), communications and engagement, medicines optimisation, Continuing Healthcare (CHC), equality, diversity and human rights, operations, emergency planning, corporate governance and administration. As Executive Nurse for NHS HMR CCG Karen is the lead for Quality and Safeguarding and has responsibility for assurance of quality and safety standards in the services commissioned by NHS HMR CCG, and manages the RBC Safeguarding and Practice Assurance Team. She is NHS HMR CCG executive lead for safeguarding, Data Protection Officer (DPO) and sits on the Governing Body as the executive nurse.

Karen has worked in the health service in the Rochdale borough most of her working life starting off as a nurse before progressing through the ranks and into management roles. Karen worked at the CCG’s predecessor organisations including the Heywood Middleton and Rochdale Primary Care Trust and now at the CCG she is responsible for the corporate functions including membership engagement, corporate performance, risk, business intelligence, information governance, people’s services (human resources, organisational development) and training, patient services (PALS and FOIs), communications and engagement, medicines optimisation, continuing healthcare, equality, diversity and human rights, operations, emergency planning and administration. As Executive Nurse for the CCG Karen is the lead for Quality and Safeguarding, and has responsibility for assurance of quality and safety standards in the services commissioned by NHS HMR CCG. Karen is also the CCG executive lead for safeguarding and the Data Protection Officer (DPO).
